COBHAM FRONT GARDEN
Front Garden Redesign in Cobham
A refined, textural approach to a mature garden entrance
This front garden in Surrey was redesigned to complement two magnificent existing evergreen trees, transforming a space that previously lacked interest. Dominated by just a simple lawn and gravel. The new design introduces form, texture, and character, creating a welcoming and visually engaging approach to the house.
The layout was redefined with sandstone paving, contrasting setts, and a fine gravel surface, adding richness and subtle textural contrast to the hard landscaping. Path lighting was incorporated along the new route, enhancing both safety and evening ambience.
At its centre, a trio of multi-stem Amelanchier lamarckii trees provides a striking focal point with seasonal blossom, delicate foliage, and beautiful autumn colour. Around the house, soft ornamental grasses create movement and contrast with the mature evergreens, adding lightness and texture, as well as a sculpture in the main site line from the house.
A new hedge offers gentle screening, while carefully positioned yew cubes bring strong architectural structure and year-round interest. Additional trees on the lawn complement the scale of the established evergreens, balancing the composition and framing the property beautifully.
This project combines timeless front garden design principles with a curated planting palette and natural materials, transforming an ordinary layout into a calm, textural, and characterful entrance.
