EAST HORSLEY GARDEN
A calm, multi-functional space designed for relaxation and everyday living
This garden in East Horsley, Surrey was designed for a professional couple who wanted a tranquil, low-maintenance space to come home to. Somewhere to relax, unwind, entertain, and enjoy the changing seasons.
A large limestone patio extends directly from the house, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor connection with areas for dining, informal seating, and an outdoor kitchen. Raised beds provide space for home-grown vegetables and herbs, adding a personal kitchen-garden touch.
From the terrace, steps lead up to a curved path that flows organically around a central circular lawn, with additional seating positioned to enjoy different views of the garden throughout the day.
A secondary lawn area adds further interest and a small potting area with a water-harvesting tank sitting discretely behind the shed, offering both practicality and charm.
The planting design balances structure and softness, combining Italian cypress trees, evergreen shrubs, ornamental grasses, scented roses, and perennials to ensure year-round interest. A wildflower meadow area was also incorporated to enhance biodiversity and seasonal interest. Integrated garden lighting and irrigation complete the scheme, while the mix of limestone paving, clay pavers, and self-binding gravel adds rich texture and natural contrast to the design.
